Is PayPerPost A Good Idea?

Blogging, Web

I signed up for PayPerPost today, but I am not really sure if it is a good idea. I need you guys to help me.

PayPerPost is a way for advertisers and bloggers to connect on the web. Lets just pretend some advertiser wanted to advertise this new product that he made for the Mac. He could do a few things. The first way is that he could go to PayPerPost, set an offer amount (let’s say $10) and set how long he want the review to be.

I would then come along, see the offer and do the review of the product, receiving $10 afterwards.

The other way is to put a badge on my website saying “Hire me for $10.” The advertiser can click that and I would get notified that someone want to hire me for a review of a product. I could reject this or accept it. Either way, I am paid $10 and everyone is happy.

I like making money for blogging, but I would only do it if it is relevant for the site. For instance, I am not going to start writing about gardening just because some gardener wants me to review her new gardening tool! That would be ridiculous. I would only do something that I am sincerely interested in. For example, software or online services.

I am still not sure if I want to do it, so its up to you guys to convince me either way. Should I start using PayPerPost?

Why not? I mean it seems like a pretty good idea to me. However the problem is for most bloggers (not to say you), I would think they would feel obligated to review the product kindly since they are being paid. I’m not saying this is always the case, but I’m sure some reviewers just wrote nicely about a product to maybe get more offers to review others products. That’s the only downfall I see, but seeing as how you are an honest person, I would suggest doing this.
