Today Apple Updated the
ir store once again. While everyone was expecting some hardware a upgrade (new MBP), Apple only gave us a price drop and something no one uses (Xsan). I have to say, I’m a little disappointed.
Apple brought down the price of the shuffle to $49 and announced a new 2GB version for $69. Personally I have no need for a shuffle, but I can see how this price drop can change a lot of peoples decisions on whether or not to get one. It’s not really big news, but it’s a step forward. I guess a fully functional MP3 player selling for $49 is pretty cool.

Apple also updated Xsan to the newest version, Xsan 2. Xsan is Apple’s Storage Area Network (SAN) file system. Xsan 2 has been received some significant updates; not only is it now fully compatible with both OS X Leopard and OS X Server Leopard (in fact, Leopard is required to run Xsan 2), it is also now qualified to work with third-party RAID storage.
This was a solid update, but I wasn’t too impressed. This is because none of these updates really effected me. I am optimistic though and I am expecting hardware upgrades plus a iPhone SDK in the near future.
