DropBox: Online Storage At Its Best + Invite Giveaways!!!

I welcome everyone to… DropBox, one of the most impressive pieces of software and web technology I have seen in a while. I’m not joking, this thing is absolutely amazing. The first thing you should do is watch the screencast made by the CEO of DropBox, Drew Houston:

This gives you a great feel about what DropBox is really about. To me, DropBox is basically .Mac + flickr + Time Machine + Finder + Rapidshare + Elegancy

No more e-mailing files to people, no more uploading pictures to flickr with a 100 picture limit a month, no more loading important files on a flash drive and taking it from computer to computer. DropBox solves this all with an amazing, innovative desktop client and an amazing web 2.0 web client. Having availability to any file of your choice on any computer in the world is now as easy as dragging a file into a folder.

Imagine the possibilities. Lets say there is a company has 100 employes that all receive an account at DropBox including the DropBox software. They will all share a folders and what ever is changed in the folders will change instantly on everyone’s computers. While there are other ways to do this, none of them have the elegancy of DropBox. Not to mention the fact that DropBox saves any revision to files, just like time machine!

DropBox is amazing, but as of now, it is in private beta. This is obviously to test and control the server it is run on. Each account receives 2GB of storage for free.
