Mac, Software

cha-ching1.png

As I said in my past post about the Macheist II Bundle, I will be giving away the apps that I do not need. Today I will be giving away Cha-Ching. Cha-Ching is quicken in a iTunes like UI. Cha-Ching has taken the best of OS X interfaces, and turned it into an accounting program. Cha-Ching makes even the toughest money functions simple to do, and looks good doing it. There is such a thing as "sexy" financial software, and Cha-Ching is it.

I have no need for an accounting app, so I have decided to give it away.

In order to win, you must do one thing:

Write a comment on this page explaining why you want Cha-Ching and how it wil help you if you win the giveaway. This comment must be at least a paragraph or at least 5 sentences. I will pick the comment that I like the most.

In order to be fair, I will give at least a week for enough people to see the post. If you do not leave your e-mail, you cannot win. Also, if there are many good comments, I will just pick randomly out of the good comments. If you guys have any better idea how i should do the giveaway, please e-mail me.

More giveaways will follow, including a Pixelmator giveaway(when its(if) it’s unlocked).

Thanks, and good luck.

Sorry guys giveaway ended on January 15th

I would love to win Cha-Ching. Cha-Ching would help me manage my purchases, that I have so much trouble managing at the moment. My purchases at the moment consist of a drawer of receipts, very disorganized. Cha-Ching has a very nice interface that appears to make organizing very easy. Cha-Ching is one of the best finance apps that I have ever seen.

  2. dan Says:

just give me it. so I don’t have to steal it. ok. do that. now.

  3. Gabe Jacobs Says:

    1) no

    and

    2) you wont be able to steal it so buy it, or live without it

I tried Cha-Ching some time back, and found that it was an intuitive application that seemed to do its job well.
However, I am but a student, and without any serious needs for accounting software of the like, which is why I have not tried to shell out the cash needed to purchase a licence (anyway, cash is short for most students).
With the end of these studies getting nearer by the minute (with the need for more serious account managing), it feels like just the kind of software I’ll have to use to get everything organised and well managed. Cha-Ching is therefore more of an investment for the future (even if won) than an answer to immediate needs, at least for me.
If I don’t win it though, I see myself as having to set aside a little every now and then. After all, it will be necessary soon enough.

I think software is a kinds pointless thing to “invest for the future.”

Maybe in the future when you actually need Cha-Ching, there will be a better app out. Maybe in the future you will realized you do not need Cha-Ching for whatever reason.

I just think that you buy software becuase you need to get something done now, not in a year.

You still could easily win the giveaway, i’m just stating my opinion.
    You could easily

Like Peter I am also a student. I really need to find a way to manage my debit card transactions in an easy and fast way. Cha-Ching seems like the perfect solution. The interface seems very intuitive (as well as delicious). However, I can not justify spending money on an application to help me manage my money, money is way to tight for me right now. I don’t really have much more to say but you are very kind for giving away software like this!

  7. Doug Says:

I am not a student, so that means a few things.
    1) I actually have money to manage
    2) I can’t use the ‘please give it to me I’m a poor student’ angle.

So how will I make my case? Simple really. I refuse to support Intuit. So that rules out Quicken. The others…they range from products that don’t work well to products that I can’t figure out how they work. So even if they were free I would not use them. Like most, I use what does the job and is user friendly.

Enter Cha-Ching. Wow, it works, it uses QIF files (something Quickbooks Pro for the mac can’t!! And its a breeze to use. So its something CAN get the job done and I will use (using the demo now).

Why do I need it? I have money so I need to manage it. However working for a non-profit income is limited so I need to be discerning where the money goes. Thus putting my name in the hat here.

Regardless of who gets it, kudos to you Gabe!

  8. Hussain Says:

I’ve tried almost all money management apps available for Mac. The problem with most of them is they don’t support my currency’s 3 decimal points, so I end up with incorrect balances. Cha-Ching supports it. I use Moneydance right now, but Cha-Ching is just beautiful, Mac-like, and faster because it’s Cocoa (Moneydance is Java).

  9. justin Says:

This license would be for my best friend. I’m a fledgling freelance designer, and I’m finding cha-ching very useful in tracking all my expenses, along with categorizing them as business related (for taxes) or personal to see where I’m spending my income. I love the tagging and smart folders.

My friend is a jazz drummer, earning his living freelance much the way I’m beginning to. I know he could use the app as much as I do in tracking all his business related expenses and setting up a budget by seeing where his money is spent.

I think its cool you’re giving away the parts of your bundle you won’t use. I’m doing the same, (through friends and family i know wouldn’t buy the software, or the bundle, but can use it none the less)

  10. andrew Says:

    hello.

i have been dying for a good OS X finance app since i bought my macbook in february–to tide me over these past few months i have mainly been using “bankbook” on my palm but, entering in all my transactions with a stylus is lame! so you could really help me out here by giving me cha-ching. ;)
i’ve been using it the past week and so far i love it! simple and elegant, without anything too complex. i’m pretty anal when it comes to logging my finances, so keeping track of every single cent spent on coffee, lunch, and other miscellany was just getting to be a huge hassle on my palm. with cha-ching i’m all set, except that i only have so many more transactions to go before the demo expires!

    anyhow. ching ching.

  11. John R. Says:

Am I the only one surprised that more people are trying to get the Cha-Ching license rather than the Pixelmator license?

  12. jon Says:

    C’mon jon…

You keep saying that you actually *have* money, so why don’t you just buy the software.

I actually think students are more in need of a simple app like this, since students typically have less experience in financial matters than adults. I’d give it to one of the students. They’re the future, yo.

  13. jon Says:

    er, i meant doug :)

  14. Ricky D' Says:

My wife and I have been trying to get our budget in order for years. We’ve tried what seemed to be everything. iCash, Quicken and most recently, keeping track of everything in Excel spreadsheets. But we never found a way to keep track of our budgeted items and let us know when we’ve gone over. I’ve used cha ching for the past two days and REALLY like it. It’s easy to use and the tags rock. I can see myself using it everyday.

So now we’re expecting our first kid, so our budget will become TIGHT! Every penny spoken for, so using cha-ching will help immensely. I showed it to my wife tonight and she loves it too. So that’s the story. Thanks for the opportunity to win this. Very cool of you.

    Ricky.
