Apple came out with a new “Get A Mac” ad a few days ago. It is called “Breakthrough.” It shows Mac and PC in therapy talking about how its not PC’s fault that PCs are horrible. Here it is:
When watching this, I saw something that reminded me of a movie I saw a really long time ago. The movie was called “Good Will Hunting” staring Matt Damon and Robin Williams. Here is the clip that is so similar (Warning: this clip contains some vulgar language):
Did you catch it? In the Mac ad, we hear PC saying, “It’s not my fault” over and over again. In “Good Will Hunting” we hear Robin Williams saying over and over again “It’s not your fault.” Also they are both in therapy! Since this scene from “Good Will Hunting” is so famous, I doubt it is just a coincidence.
Who ever thought of this from Apple is brilliant and knows his movies well. The funny part is that Matt Damon understands the meaning of “It’s not your fault” and PC ends up not understanding at all. What a great parody from Apple, bravo!

Good catch. It does appear Apple used that scene as a basis for the commerical.
Most of the get a Mac adds are clever but I think the whole campaign is getting old. Probably time to stop the Vista bashing and move on to something new and fresh.

I don’t believe it was taken from Good Will Hunting. There is no specific reason, it’s just that… it’s a common phrase. I mean it could… but at the same time it couldn’t. Who knows, but I just feel it’s not.. lol
